Catherine is originally from New Zealand and now lives in Cambridgeshire in the UK. She lives with her husband, son and a tortoiseshell cat called Lizzy, who inspired The Bad Cat Club series.
She has previously worked in theatre and television in all sorts of odd jobs including, writing commercial scripts, and producing and directing shopping telly.
Catherine used to prance around on stage making up silly stories as an improv comedienne.
Now she writes silly stories instead, which is just as fun – and she doesn’t even need to leave the house! Her favourite things are cats, books, tea parties and taking afternoon naps with her young son.
She blogs about life as a new mummy and the challenges of staying productive while parenting at catherinecampbellwrites.com

Our chat with Catherine…
In my 20’s I started performing comedy improv, which taught me everything I know about storytelling. When you’re making stories up on the spot with an audience to please you learn very quickly what works and what doesn’t. Improv took me around the world performing in festivals in Wellington, Chicago and year after year in Edinburgh. It was around this time, making audiences laugh with silly made up stories, that I wondered if writing for children may be the thing for me. The problem was I hadn’t done any actual writing for years, unless you count the sales and promotional scripts I wrote for work. It took me a few more years of self-doubt and procrastination before I pulled myself together and started writing creatively again. And I loved it! An early win in a children’s short story competition sealed the deal. It gave me the confidence and motivation to keep going and think perhaps I could make a go of it as a children’s author.
It’s so tricky balancing a creative project with young children that I started blogging about it, when I get the time! You can check it out here catherinecampbellwrites.com/blog
It’s midnight. Do you know where your cat is?
Harry spends every night curled up asleep on Jessica’s bed. Until the night he’s put out for being naughty and discovers his quiet neighbourhood is a terrifying place after sundown.
There’s an angry dog on the loose and the Crooked Lane Cats roam the streets led by the fearsome One-Eyed Pud. Can Harry the scaredy-cat make it through the night and find his way back to Jessica? Or will the toughest cat in the neighbourhood eat him for dinner? Luckily, he has help from his new friends, the mischievous cats of the Bad Cat Club.
